Showcase Criteria

Innovative Catholic Mission

Organization’s mission brings a fresh approach to address a key human and/or spiritual need from a Catholic perspective. Preference given to emerging evangelizing ministries that are relational in nature.

Team

Do the founders make sense for this mission? Does their background contribute to the likelihood of success? Do they have the skills internally (or are experienced finding them externally) to advance the mission?

Timing, Need, & Market

Factors indicate that now is the moment to work on this mission, there’s a deep need this organization can address and there’s a gap in the market to adequately serve this need.

Early Traction

Organization is early-stage: less than 7 years old and/or is less than 10 FTEs, with a preference for earlier stage and smaller organizations. There’s initial traction for the mission, including outcomes and impact demonstrated, indicating capability to drive things forward.

Potential for Radical Fruitfulness

The mission has potential for radical fruitfulness and the ministry has a credible vision and plan to get there.

“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received - only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage.”

  • Yes. Any number of people may submit an idea together; however, there will be one central applicant from the group. This person will be the point of contact for the contest, and the person who will travel to the SENT Mission Showcase. The group should create a team name for their application.

Ideally, your group will be a team with a history of collaboration. One-time or new teams will need to make a very strong case for why they are working together.

Disbursement of the funding will be discussed on a case-to-case basis and will likely be distributed through the central applicant.

If you apply as part of a group, you cannot apply with any other project.

  • Showcase is intended for new and smaller initiatives, so specific ministries or initiatives operating under a parish or diocese may apply but the showcase is not designed for parishes or dioceses themselves.

  • The Summit ticket for finalists ($1,000) will be fully comped. The cash grant is intended to help cover all of the costs associated with getting to the Summit so you do not worry about those expenses. If further funds are needed, we encourage finalists to raise them through their networks to make it possible to attend in person.

  • We will offer one Summit ticket and one grant per finalist team. Any additional tickets may be purchased by the team.

  • No. Finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their mission to the audience and invite partners to join them in their mission. We also hope that showcase finalists will find collegiality and the opportunity to collaborate as a cohort.

  • Yes, we will hold a 7-day grace period for all applicants to the showcase to purchase tickets to the SENT Summit if they are not selected as finalists.
