Investing in Entrepreneurship, Changing the Culture
Earlier this fall, SENT Founder John Cannon participated in a panel discussion during the 2022 Catholic Leadership Partnership Summit hosted by Leadership Roundtable, an organization dedicated to building up best practices within the Catholic Church.
The panel discussed how the Church can support new leadership models that drive impact and renewal. To John, the answer is clear. Invest in holy entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship can unlock new ideas and approaches that are needed inside and outside Catholic circles. And in order to cultivate a society that is better aligned with truth and goodness, we need a flourishing ecosystem of Catholic entrepreneurs.
The Church can support holy entrepreneurship within its walls not simply by implementing formation programs and instruction, but by building communities of support for Spirit-led founders.
The Church can build these solutions alongside those she serves because, by first understanding the needs of the people we are serving, we can begin to conceptualize what support looks like, in both vision and practice.
By building an ecosystem of support for Catholic entrepreneurs and their businesses, the Church has the potential to help lay people fulfill their vocations to holiness. At SENT Ventures, we look no further than Nick Madden of Red Door Escape Room or Scott Weeman of Catholic in Recovery for examples of Catholic entrepreneurs who are enriching and changing the culture through their work.
