SENT Ventures Announces 1st Chicago Regional Conference For Catholic Business Leaders

Dignity, Solidarity, and Equality: Building High Impact Companies Founded on Catholic Social Teaching

On Thursday, November 2nd, SENT Ventures will host a 1-day conference at the Athenaeum Center in Chicago, Illinois for Catholic business leaders. The conference will focus on how to build high-impact companies through Catholic social teaching, especially through dignity, solidarity, and equality. Special thanks to the Word on Fire Institute, Spirit Juice Studios, LPi, the Athenaeum Center, and all of our sponsors for their generous sponsorships.

This groundbreaking event presents a unique opportunity to delve into the principles central to Catholic social thought and their application in the world of business. A schedule featuring expert speakers and leaders, as well as time for the sacraments, networking, and break-out groups, will further equip attendees to lead ethically and drive sustainable growth, all while building relationships with leaders who share their faith.

Speakers include Jim Perry, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Madison Dearborn Partners; Matthew Petrusek, Senior Director of the Word on Fire Institute and Professor of Catholic Ethics; and Neal McNamara, Co-Founder and CEO of Virtas Partners. The event will take place at the historic Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture in Chicago's vibrant Lakeview neighborhood.

“We’re excited to bring expert Catholic business leaders together at the Athenaeum Center this November,” said former investment banker, monk, and SENT Ventures Founder John Cannon. “If you want insights on how to lead your business in a Catholic way, the Chicago Regional is the perfect place to start. ”

The 2023 Chicago Regional is open to Catholic executives, founders, and growth-minded mission and business leaders looking to align their entrepreneurial pursuits with their Catholic faith and learn from industry experts. Registration closes on Thursday, October 12th.

About SENT

SENT Ventures  equips founders and executives with tools to take their ventures to the next level while becoming Saints. In doing so, we aim to unleash a spirit-led entrepreneurial movement that re-awakens people everywhere to the transforming power of the Catholic faith.

John Cannon

Before his profound conversion, John achieved exceptional academic milestones, earning degrees in finance, political science, and business from renowned institutions such as The University of Notre Dame, Oxford University, and Harvard Business School. He excelled as an investment banker for several major banks, built a boutique management consulting practice, and served as a policy advisor to the Governor of Alabama.

However, a profound awakening led John to embrace a new path—one of spiritual exploration and deep introspection. Setting aside his well-deserved accolades, he joined a Carmelite monastery. There, John immersed himself in prayer, teaching, and various ministries. His desire to contribute to the renewal of the Church led him to pursue advanced degrees in Philosophy and Theology, delving into the study of founder Saints.

Guided by his renewed faith and the desire to integrate his professional and spiritual journeys, John left the monastery to found SENT—a network for Spirit-Led founders dedicated to fostering positive change in the world.
